The late Dale C. Marcoux was born November 30, 1907 in Havensville, Kan. He graduated from Havensville High School and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Kansas and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, where he majored in economics. Marcoux began his teaching career in the Circleville, Kan. high school and later at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. He was employed by the Employment Security Department in Topeka for a short while before returning to teach at Washburn College in 1939. He served in the Navy during World War II. He returned to Washburn after the war and was head of the department of economics and business administration, a position he held until his retirement in 1973. Dale was married to Rosamond Eddy in 1930. She died in 1947. He married again in 1950 to Florence Harold, a former Washburn home economics teacher. She died June 10, 1998. Marcoux managed, despite limited resources, to maintain a strong department and good faculty, which together laid the groundwork for establishing the School of Business at Washburn in July 1973. He passed away April 14, 1986.
