The late Jewel (Hensley) Uhr was born August 29, 1910, in St. Louis, the daughter of Walton and Anna Howard Hensley. Mrs. Uhr earned a B.A. in food and nutrition from Oklahoma College for Women. She worked as the home service director for a gas company from 1938-1945. She did volunteer work for the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library and the Mulvane Art Museum at Washburn University. She was a member of the Chamber of Music Series, Topeka Symphony and Temple Beth Sholom. She married Dr. Nathaniel Uhr on September 4, 1945, in Kansas City, Kan. He died October 10, 1994. She died March 10, 2004.
