Elliot & Daphne  White*

The late Elliot H. White, ba '24, was born October 30, 1902, in Topeka, the son of Oliver H. and Caroline (Hill) White. He graduated from Washburn University in 1924 with a degree in economics and received a master's degree in business from Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He began his career with Peabody Houghteling & Co and later worked for Jacob Kulp & Co in Chicago. He purchased Topeka Transfer and Storage from his father in 1930 and returned to Topeka. He retired in 1974. The concert hall in the Garvey Fine Arts Center on the Washburn campus was named in his honor. He married Daphne Stodghill in 1927, in Iola, Kan. She died Feb. 12, 1989.  He died August 14, 1995.
