The late H. Bernard Fink was born October 30, 1909 in Topeka. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1927. He graduated from the University of Kansas School of Business in 1931. He was president and chairman of the board of CGF Grain Company, which was later known as CGF Industries, Inc. He also held positions with Century National Bank, Fink Brothers General Insurance, Updegraff Buick and Midwest Livestock Company. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945 and held the rank of lieutenant commander.
Fink established the H. Bernard Fink Award for excellence in teaching at the University of Kansas in 1959 and he served on the School of Business advisory board from 1970 until 1999. He was a past president of the Greater University Fund and the University of Kansas Alumni Association in Topeka. He had been active in Republican Party affairs and was a treasurer for the Reagan for President Campaign in 1975. He served as United Fund campaign chairman in 1963 and served six years on the board of directors. He also was a director for Boy Scouts of America in the 1960s. Fink married Ruth Cochener on March 31, 1955 in Topeka. He passed away March 22, 1999.
