The late Philip C. Pennington, jd '84, was born November 30, 1950 in Chicago, Ill. He graduated from Jefferson City High School in Jefferson City, Mo. in 1968. He earned his B.A. in history and philosophy in 1968 and his M.B.A. in 1975 from Texas Christian University. He graduated from the Washburn University School of Law with dean's honors and was a member of Delta Theta Phi. He was admitted to the Kansas Bar in 1984 and that same year began working for AMC Entertainment, Inc., based in Kansas City, Mo. He worked in a variety of roles for the company. For the first five years he worked in Clearwater, Fla. as vice president of operations for the southeast division. In 1989, he moved to Kansas City, Mo. and became the vice president of concessions. Subsequently, he became the vice president of the AMC Entertainment, Inc.'s legal department. Pennington's primary emphasis was on disability access law and supervision of outside counsel on a variety of matters. He also supervised the company's security department and director of labor relations. He retired from AMC Entertainment, Inc. in September of 2008. Pennington passed away February 16, 2010.
