The late Henrietta M. Snyder, ba '29, was born on May 23, 1907 in Topeka, the only child of George E. and Lillian Cope Moser. She graduated from Bethany Academy and went on to graduate from Washburn University in 1929 with a B.A. in English. While at Washburn, she met O. W. Maddox, whom she married in 1926. He died in 1964. After their marriage the Maddoxs moved to Beaumont and then Dallas, Texas. Henrietta later attended the New York School of Design and was accredited by the American Society of Interior Designers. She worked in Dallas as an interior designer until 1970 when she married G. W. (Bill) Snyder, Jr. and moved back to Topeka. He died in 1986. Mrs. Snyder was baptized at Grace Episcopal Church in 1907, and reestablished her membership at Grace Cathedral when she returned to Topeka. Mrs. Snyder provided many interior appointments for the Cathedral following the 1975 fire, including a stained glass triptych and carved wooden reredos. She passed away in June of 2007.
