The late Carolyn (Edson) Stewart, ba '31, was born in Topeka August 21, 1910. Carolyn attended Topeka public schools and graduated from Washburn University in 1931. She was a member of the Topeka Junior League since 1935, Kappa Alpha Theta, Junior Social Service, Topeka High School Historical Society, the Wilders Society, and the Topeka Public Library. Her passions included volunteering, creating fashion designs, gardening, traveling and reading. Carolyn managed resort hotels and country clubs between the years of 1947-1963. She was united in marriage to Lt. Col USAF Howard E. Sellards in 1936. He passed away in June of 1945. Carolyn was joined in marriage to Charles W. Wegener in 1947. He passed away in 1970. She married Charles H. Stewart, jd '32, a Circuit Judge in Kingman, Kan. in August of 1974. Judge Stewart was born April 1, 1909 in Topeka. He was a graduate of Washburn University School of Law, and started a law practice in Wichita County. He later moved to Kingman, where he practiced law, and in 1962 he was elected 24th Judicial District Judge. He had also served as a Kingman County Attorney and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Kingman. He preceded Carolyn in death April of 1985. She passed away Friday October 31, 2008.
