Frank Seiberling borrowed the down payment on Goodyear's first factory in 1898.  Production began with 13 workers on November 21 with a product line of bicycle and carriage tires, horseshoe pads and poker chips. By 1916, Goodyear was the world's largest tire and rubber company. Currently, Goodyear operates more than 60 plants in 25 countries and employs more than 75,000 people. Goodyear's strategic charitable giving reflects its internal corporate values. With a plant located in Topeka, Goodyear supports Washburn University in an effort to help provide educational opportunities for Goodyear associates and their families.
