Mary (Laughlin) Dibble was born on February 12, 1922. She attended Kansas City, Mo. Junior College, and graduated with a B.A. in education from Central Missouri State University in 1945. She taught in Johnson County, Kan. before marrying William Lyman Dibble. The Dibbles had two sons, one who graduated from Washburn in 1975. Many of Mary's family members attended Washburn, including her mother, Mae Cole Laughlin, who graduated with a B.A. in elementary education in 1957, a son, Fredrick P. Dibble bba '75 and a grandson, William Lyman Dibble II, ba '98. She was a non-traditional student who taught until age 91. Mary enjoyed weaving and had her own loom. She also enjoyed gardening, the symphony and visiting art museums. She played the harp for five years. Mary passed away on October 17, 2012.
