Robert "Bob" E. Lee, ba '52, was born on January 29, 1926. He graduated from Topeka High School. During his time at Washburn, he was a member of Alpha Delta fraternity, Sagamore men's honor society, the football team, and track squad. He entered Washburn after his discharge from the United States Marine Corps following a tour of duty in the South Pacific during World War II. He met his wife, Sallee (Jones) Lee while playing baseball in Iowa. She was born April 7, 1930 in Chicago. She attended Coe College in Iowa. Bob played minor league baseball and headed to Florida for spring training. Unfortunately, he was out much of the season due to a fractured arm. His baseball career ended in 1952.  However, in 1960, Washburn asked Bob to take over the Washburn Ichabod baseball team due to illness of the head coach. The Lees have been devoted supporters of Washburn, making many projects possible. They are also avid volunteers within the Washburn and Topeka communities. Both of their sons have degrees from Washburn and their daughter attended Kansas State. The Lees enjoy attending Washburn sporting events.
