Duke & Helen  Dupre

Duke Dupre, jd '73, was born on August 28, 1943. He earned his B.A. in accounting from Kansas State University in 1967. After his undergraduate work, he entered the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He was discharged in 1970 as a captain. After his graduation from the Washburn University School of Law, he joined Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He served as counsel for SBC in Washington, D.C. for the hearings on the Telecommunications Act of 1996. He retired in 1999 as vice president and general counsel-external affairs for SBC Communications, Inc. He then served as chairman of the board for a software technology company. He retired from that position in 2004. During his retirement, he provided pro bono legal services to those in need of assistance. He is married to Helen (Packard) Dupre, jd '76, born September 14, 1947. She earned her undergraduate degree from Kansas State University in 1969. Helen serves as the Associate National Director for evening classes for Community Bible Study, an international, interdenominational Bible study. They have three children.
