Duane Fager was born in Joplin, Mo. Duane graduated from Topeka West High School and the University of Kansas. After graduating from KU, he served in the United States Army as an officer from 1968 to 1970. He began his full-time career with CoreFirst Bank and Trust in 1970, and held various positions including senior vice president and director of marketing. He was elected to the board of directors of all CoreFirst Bank and Trust related companies in 1974, was named CoreFirst Bank's president in 1978 and in 1994 was elected as CEO. In his time as president and CEO, Duane has lead the bank to success by focusing on the core values and customer service that he learned from his father, and his own innovation. Beth Fager was born August 1, 1948 in Hutchinson, Kan. She graduated from Topeka West High School and the University of Kansas where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from KU, she taught briefly in Topeka Public Schools and then became a full time mother. Beth has been a community leader and a friend to Washburn for many years. She has been the campaign director for the Great Overland Station since 1995 and has served in a number of fundraising roles in the Topeka community, including projects like the Ronald McDonald House, the Topeka Performing Arts Center, Brewster Place Retirement Center and the Junior League of Topeka. The Fagers have been loyal friends to Washburn and have supported many Ichabod endeavors. They have three children: Melissa Hiestand, John Fager and Kent Fager.
