Gerald Goodell, bba '54 and jd '58, was born and raised in Topeka, Kan.  He received his BBA degree from Washburn University in 1954.  He earned his JD degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1958.

Since 2003, he has been of counsel in the prominent Topeka law firm of Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds & Palmer L.L.P. Jerry also served as president of the Kansas Bar Association in 1985-86; president of The Kansas Bar Foundation in 1994-95; president of the Topeka Bar Association in 2000-01 and was a member of the Shawnee County District Judge Nominating Committee from 1977-2000.

Jerry's service to Washburn has been extensive. He's been a trustee with the Washburn University Foundation since 1999, serving as chair in 2005-06. He has also served as president of the Washburn University Alumni Association, the Washburn Law Alumni Association and the Washburn Law School Foundation.

He has served as an adjunct professor and has taught Trial Techniques and Real Estate Mortgages in the Washburn University School of Law, and has participated in numerous CLE and professional panels.

In 2002, he received an Honorary Doctor of Law from Washburn University School of Law, and he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Washburn University School of Law in 1982 and a Lifetime Achievement award in 2009. He served as a member of the Kansas Judicial Council, the Kansas Board of Law Examiners, and the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission. In 2007, he received the prestigious Kansas Supreme Court Justice Award.

Jerry, and his late wife Sue, have two adult children, David and Amy.
