Greg Greenwood graduated from Washburn University with a B.B.A. in accounting in 1988. While at Washburn he played varsity baseball and was a member of the accounting society and Sagamore. After earning his CPA designation, he joined KPMG which later became Topeka-based Berberich Trahan & Co., working in public accounting from 1988 to 1993.

Greenwood began his career at Westar Energy in the tax department in 1993 and soon rose to financial analyst. In 1996 he became manager of planning and analysis. He joined Westar's executive team in 2003 as treasurer. In 2006, Greenwood was promoted to vice president, major construction projects and was promoted again in 2011 to his current position as senior vice president of strategy. Greenwood oversees the regulatory affairs, new customer programs and services, and custom care areas of the company.

Jaena (Coates) Greenwood earned a B.A. in communication from Washburn in 1989. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at Washburn and was also called to NONOSO. Jaena received a Master of Arts degree in speech pathology at the University of Kansas in 1991. She was employed by USD 501 as a speech pathologist for twenty-four years. The Greenwoods reside in Topeka, Kan. and have three adult children.
