Cynthia G. (Schmidt) Heath, ba '71, was born February 3, 1949. She went to Topeka West High School where she was a gymnast. During her time at Washburn, she majored in history and was a member of Delta Gamma, NoNoSo, Spirit Squad, Angel Flight, the gymnastics team and student government. After graduating from Washburn, she taught at her alma mater high school and earned her M. Ed. from Kansas State University and her J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. She practiced law in St. Louis and eventually became Vice President of Emerson Electric Company. Cynthia is the chairperson of the Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation Board of Trustees. She currently serves on the Washburn University Foundation's board as a director, and serves as a member in the finance, compensation, development, and executive committees. She met her late husband, David Heath, ba '70 and jd '76, at Washburn. David Heath was born May 22, 1948. He graduated from Chanute High School. He received his B.A. in political science and was a member of Alpha Delta fraternity. He was in the Labor Relations Department of The Boeing Company in St. Louis, Mo. They have two daughters, Ashley and Heather, and four grandchildren, Braden, David, Henry, and Piper.
