Robert Meinershagen, ba '63, was born June 11, 1941. He graduated from Topeka High School. While at Washburn, he majored in biology. In 1976, he founded Columbia Diagnostics. The company is a distributor of medical diagnostic products to hospitals and pathology laboratories. He served as president and CEO until his retirement. He is married to Helen Meinershagen. Because of his encouraging experience with the Washburn biology department, Meinershagen was instrumental in making the Meinershagen Field Station at Karlysle Woods biological center a reality. This laboratory accommodates 30 students where they can conduct research and observe living organisms in natural habitats.  Meinershagen also established an undergraduate research fund to help facilitate the mentor relationship he experienced as an undergraduate.
