Malcolm "Mal" Robinson, bba '71, born August 25, 1948, is a native of Topeka. After graduating from Washburn, Robinson worked at Security Benefit Group. Robinson dedicated 35 years of service to Security Benefit Group before retiring in 2006 as the senior vice president and assistant to the chairman and chief executive officer. Robinson has spent a great deal of time volunteering. He was honored with the volunteer of the year awards by the United Way, Capper Foundation and the Archdiocese of Northeast Kansas for his extensive volunteer service. Robinson is also part of a classic rock band from Topeka called the Bop Daddies. The group plays music from the 60s and 70s. He has served on the Hayden High School and Washburn University Foundation board of trustees, as well as the board of directors for St. Francis Health Center. Malcolm is married to Karen Robinson. Karen is artistic and enjoys doing oil paintings. The couple has two daughters, both graduates of Washburn University.
