Dean & Pamela  Ferrell

Dean Ferrell, ba '69, was born on May 28, 1947. He is a graduate of Shawnee Heights
High School and Washburn University. He earned his degree in mathematics and while
at Washburn played quarterback on the football team and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. In 1976, Ferrell and George Dahlstrom started Dahlstrom and Ferrell Construction Company, breaking into the commercial construction market. The business became Ferrell Construction of Topeka, Inc. in 1990 when Dahlstrom retired. Ferrell Construction was responsible for many of the new additions to the Topeka skyline, including the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, the Security Benefit Group Complex, the Stormont-Vail Healthcare Emergency and Trauma Center. On the Washburn Campus, Ferrell was involved with the transition housing and the Stauffer addition and remodel. Dean retired in 2013

Dean is married to Pamela (Bahner) Ferrell, bs '96, who was born on March 21, 1947 and graduated from Hayden High School and St. Margaret School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kan. While at Washburn, she earned her degree in nursing and maintained a place on the Dean's Honor Roll. The Ferrells are both active in community service around Topeka in a variety of ways. They have two children and five grandchildren.
