Barbara  (King)  Wilson*

Barbara (King) Wilson, ba '38 and honorary degree '96, was born May 20, 1917. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1934 and was later inducted into the Topeka High School Hall of Fame. While she was an undergraduate at Washburn, she was president of Kappa Alpha Theta and graduated with departmental honors. Her late husband, J. Robert "Bob" Wilson, ba '37 and jd '39, also graduated from Washburn and was president of Student Council and a member of the Phi Alpha Delta fraternity. They married in 1940. He became a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army during World War II. After he was discharged, they purchased an abstract firm in Manhattan, Kan. that became Charlson and Wilson Bonded Abstracters. They were also the owners of Charlson and Wilson Insurance Agency. Bob Wilson passed away in 1982. The Wilsons are survived by two children, Nancy (Wilson) Wight of Matfield Green, Kan. and Dr. Thomas King Wilson of Salina, Kan., both are Washburn graduates. Additional family members include four grandsons and six great grandchildren. Barbara passed away June 28, 2014.
