Bernie & Marilyn  Bianchino

Bernie Bianchino, ba '70, jd '74, graduated from Bishop Miege High School in Shawnee Mission, Kan. in 1966. While at Washburn, he majored in political science and was a defensive lineman on the Washburn Ichabod football team from 1966-69. He was a member of Kappa Sigma, Sagamore men's honor society and was on the Dean's Honor Roll.
 
After graduation from Washburn University School of Law, Bianchino joined the Atomic Energy Commission (later merged into the Department of Energy), Oak Ridge, Tenn. in the legal department. In 1978 he joined the legal department of Exxon Corporation where he served as counsel for several affiliates including Exxon Nuclear, Exxon Office Systems, Exxon Enterprises, Gilbarco and Reliance Electric. He joined the staff of US Sprint in 1986 where he rose to the position of associate general counsel. When US Sprint was acquired by Sprint Corporation he was appointed Vice President, Law- General Business. In 1994, he became the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and External Affairs of Qwest Communications. Later, he returned to Sprint as the Chief Business Development Officer of Sprint PCS. Before retirement from Sprint, he also served as Chief Executive Officer of Pegaso PCS Sprint's affiliate in Mexico City. After a short period as the Chief Executive Officer of OnFiber Communications which was acquired by Qwest, Bianchino formed Jaguar Telecom LLC and serves as the President and CEO.

Marilyn (Dyck) Bianchino, b ed '72, was born October 26, 1950. She graduated from Topeka West High School. While at Washburn, she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She taught elementary education in Topeka, Knoxville, Tenn. and Woodinville, Wash. Marilyn's interests include Sunflower Republican Club, remodeling projects, American antiques, family gatherings and WU football. 

The couple has two children, Hannah Hemry, ba '05, University of Denver, jd '08 St. Louis University, an attorney in Kansas City with Husch Blackwell Sanders, and Ben Bianchino, bba 09, graduated in December of 2009 with a bba in Finance and Marketing from the Washburn School of Business. He is a supplier relationship manager at Pollenware, Inc.
